So what is life coaching, how can you benefit, what topics do my clients bring to coaching and what do they say about it?
What is life coaching?
I see coaching as a partnership between coach and individual in a safe, supportive environment of trust &honesty. You may choose to bring one immediate topic, such as career change or stress, or you may want to look broadly at your life, personally and/or professionally.
How can life coaching benefit you?
• Are you at a point in your life where you’d like to review where you are and make plans for the
future?
• Do you have a dilemma or decision you’d like to think over with someone who can support you
objectively to find a way forward?
• Would you like to feel more confident and positive about life and work?
• Would you like to raise your self-esteem & be more assertive?
I believe you have the answers to problems and difficulties and I will support you to find your solutions and to:
• Clarify what you want to achieve, short & long term
• Expand your self-awareness
• Increase your confidence & self-esteem
• Learn & practice new skills, such as assertiveness
• Create strategies & action plans to attain your goals, leaving you feeling more motivated &
fulfilled
My clients bring a wide range of topics to life coaching
Some are personal, some work-related & include:
• Confidence building
• Communication skills
• Dependency issues eg. eating, relationships
• Difficulties with boss or colleagues
• Health & lifestyle
• Money matters and debt
• Preparing and practicing presentations
• Fear of public speaking
• Pressure and stress
• Relationship with family, partner or friends
• Time management and organization
• Writing essays, reports, CV’s and job applications
Here are examples of what clients say:
“Thank you so much for your help and the wonderful coaching session. I felt I learnt a 'whole set of new logic' and it was great waking up this morning viewing the world in a different light."
"I would like to thank you for all the wisdom, good advice and skills you have shared with me. I find you truly inspiring and feel that you fill a very important gap in people's lives."
"Lucy coaches with wisdom, humanity and practicality"
"Thank you for all your help. It has been life changing"
How does life coaching work?
Coaching sessions are part structured (using the GROW Model) and part intuitive approach, enabling you to learn & grow through self-discovery, creativity and reflection. Coaching may involve activities, discussion, questioning and goal setting with action plans to reach them, backed by continual support & encouragement to keep you moving forward. You can expect to explore new ways of thinking & achieving & become more self-reliant.
A unique opportunity to fast-track your skills in life coaching
I am a trainer with 20 years experience in communication & related skills, so if you want to develop skills in assertiveness, conflict resolution, dealing with awkward customers & other difficult people, CVs & interviews, presentations & public speaking or time management, you have instant access to these in your life coaching sessions.
Be assertive, not aggressive
Assertiveness is a non-aggressive form of behaviour that encourages you to be more aware of your needs, feelings and opinions & express them appropriately while being sensitive to the needs, feelings & opinions of others. You learn a treasure trove of verbal and non-verbal skills to enable you to communicate clearly and succinctly, be able to ask and refuse, respond to criticism without getting defensive and confront difficult behaviours in others. By becoming more assertive you can have more honest, open relationships & you will find your levels of confidence and self-esteem with correspondingly grow.
Who is coaching for?
You will find coaching helpful if you
• feel stuck & want to MOT your life &/or career
• are at a crossroads/key point in your life (eg. student starting out, changing career or job,
looking for new pastures, life crisis, new manager, about to retire)
• are a high-achiever assessing your current and future direction
• have a key work or life decision to make
• you need to fast-track your learning and development
• are a staff member with a new role or challenge; a new manager
