What is time management?
Good time management may be compared to going on a journey. Ideally and hopefully you know your starting point and your destination and all the stops along the way.
Time management techniques
In coaching for better time management I use a wide variety of techniques, models and practical exercises, such as using a Time Log to discover your current use of time, the ABC system of creating priorities, the Salami system of dealing with the overwhelming, and using weekly and yearly planners.
During coaching you can not only acquire new skills & practices but apply them there and then to your paper mountains and overflowing tasks to feel more in control of your time…and hence, your life. Coaching enables you to discover & discard your key misuses of time and create new patterns and positive practices.
People and priorities
Sometimes people get in the way of managing time. They interrupt or make demands, telling you everything is urgent! Here, it’s important to combine time management techniques with the skills of assertiveness if you are to manage your own priorities.
Work life balance
Time management coaching also helps you create that important yet elusive work-life balance.
In the words of George Bernard Shaw: "We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing."
